A journey begins with the questions of two women which are asked to the time where they belong to, it continues with them pursuing a dream of a place that has never been heard of.
"The Rumour" is the story, created with physical expression techniques, telling the journey of two women who grow/ progress/ develop/ gain strength/ mature through the dreams of each other. By reinterpreting time and space with its own language, “The Rumour”, on the one hand pursues the performative expression of a dream world, and on the other hand reminds the present repeatedly.
The meaning of the word "The Rumour" is generation to generation transfer of notions, concepts or stories which cannot be proved right. The Rumour is designed by "Proje Difüzyon" team. The project took shape by the contribution of 16 women artists across the world who propose a solution to a problem they have chosen and convey those to “Proje Difuzyon” team by using their own artistic way of saying. The performers, directors and designers in "Proje Difüzyon" team used these materials that came from the women artists as a base for composing their “female utopias” into a performance.
How would be a utopia design which is initiated with a female perspective? Tevatür will be brought to life by the team of Proje Difüzyon (Project Difüzyon), artist from all over the world find solutions to the problems (the conceptual or physical situations they would like to change) determined by themselves, give these a shape with their own art form (photography, video, sound, text, music, choreography etc.) and deliver these to the team of “Proje Difüzyon”. The actors, directors and designers in the team of “Profe Difüzyon” will create a stage performance by fictionalizing their “female utopias” which they prepare based on these materials. The project will provide opportunity for a performance where modern narration methods (Site-specific, Devised Theatre, Physical Theatre etc.) will be used and which will bring together the works of female artists from various countries, from Mexico to Kazakhstan.
Our wish is to create the want and spirit of hope in the audience. To ponder how we can fictionalize a world in which we live together and thus to propagate the desire to change the life we live. We are aware that artist alone cannot change the world. Therefore, we want to ponder on the idea of changing the world altogether. We suggest to see art as a field where the spirit of changing the world will turn into a narration. Tevatür offers artists a platform where they pursue to the desire of constructing an order/world/narration of/about themselves, fictionalizing a dream world based on this desire, and finally embodying this fiction with a narrative technique. This project has been shaped with the pre-admission that dreaming has the power to change the world and creating our own utopias could make us one step closer to the reality of the world.
